You - Avalon ISD students, faculty and staff - were one of those campuses! Celebrate what your hard work and dedication to learning has earned you on the NATIONAL level!"
Mr. Marshall included "This award is based on what we have done as a SCHOOL because we are one campus and we work as a TEAM! From Pre-K through 12th grade, from the teachers to the paraprofessionals to the cafeteria to our maintenance crew and our administrators, we are one team!"
Dr. Del Bosque then presented the National Blue Ribbon plaque and flag to three student representatives from the elementary, the middle school grades, and the high school.
While representatives from Blue Bell Ice Cream congratulated all the students with an ice cream sandwich, a special slide show played on our giant screen and students and classes posed for pictures in front of the Blue Ribbon flag.
