Mr. J King is in our Staff Spotlight for the Month of September! Mr. King has returned to Avalon after retiring from Plano ISD, teaching high school mathematics. He has previously worked at Avalon for 10 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Dallas Baptist College and a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Texas A&M – Commerce.
His family includes his wife, Carolyn; son, Joshua, his wife, Masey and their son Cason; another son, Jacob, his wife Christine and their son, Benjamin; grand-dogs Toby, Duke and Charlie and grand-bird Sydney.
Mr. King says, “I want my students to gain a passion for learning and knowledge. I want them to learn how to learn. I want them to give their teachers, coaches, and sponsors a chance to share their knowledge and experiences, and I want my students to share their knowledge with us.”
Mr. King’s favorite part of teaching is “that moment when a reluctant student lets go of their reluctance and learns something new!” His favorite saying is: “Get Up! Dust yourself off. Try again.” (Wile E. Coyote)
Outside of school, Mr. King enjoys acting and spending time with their three dogs Maverick, Lady Jane and Remy.
