COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) Information - SPRING 2020
Good Afternoon, Avalon Eagle Families,
This afternoon Governor Abbott, through an Executive Order, closed schools through the end of the school year (May 22). AISD will continue to provide student meal service and alternative instruction during this extended period. Our teachers and staff will continue to work hard to prepare for distance learning. Student work will continue through May 21st. You should be receiving remote instruction either by packet or digitally. If you are not receiving instruction, please send an email to your campus principal.
- We will continue to have two meal pickup days:
- Monday ( Mon/Tue meals provided) 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
- Wednesday (Wed/Thur/Fri. meals provided) 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
While students are out of school, we encourage you to practice social distancing and stay close to home. If we all work together, we can keep our community healthy and safe. As always, please reach out to us with any comments, questions, or concerns.
We recognize we are in unprecedented times and are making decisions as quickly as we can as information becomes available. Your support, encouragement, prayers and patience have been invaluable. On behalf of all AISD teachers and staff, thank you. Together, we will get through this time and continue to make a difference in the lives of our children.
One final note. At some point after this pandemic passes, we will hold a graduation ceremony. More detailed information on date, time and location will be sent out soon. We are very proud of our 2020 Senior Class and we will definitely be celebrating this great accomplishment!!!

Esta tarde, el Gobernador Abbott, mediante una Orden Ejecutiva, cerró las escuelas hasta el final del año escolar (22 de mayo). AISD continuará brindando servicio de comidas a los estudiantes e instrucción alternativa durante este período extendido. Nuestros maestros y personal continuarán trabajando duro para prepararse para el aprendizaje a distancia. El trabajo de los estudiantes continuará hasta el 21 de mayo. Debería recibir instrucciones remotas, ya sea por paquete o digitalmente. Si no está recibiendo instrucción, envíe un correo electrónico al director de su escuela.

Extension to May 4
Dear AISD Families:
To keep you informed, Governor Abbott has extended his order declaring all Texas school buildings must remain closed until Monday, May 4. We will continue to support our students and families through distance learning, and we will continue to provide meals to children ages 1-18.

Extension to April 17th
Dear Avalon Eagle Family,
Avalon ISD is joining the other school districts in Ellis County in making the decision to extend at-home instructional support through April 17th. AISD will continue to provide student meal service and alternative instruction during this extended period. Our staff continues to work hard preparing assignments and activities for our students to keep their minds engaged during this time of unfamiliarity.
This is not an easy decision because we understand it continues to place burdens on many of our families. However, we feel it is imperative we collaborate with each other to ensure the health and safety of our students and citizens.
- We will have two instructional packet pick-up/drop-off times on Monday March 30:
- 11:00 am -12:30 pm
- 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
- Each teacher will continue to update information on the school website of their class assignments and activities.
- Thank you for spending extra time with your child while they work to complete the assignments. When your child completes all of the assignments, we ask that you please drop off or return the assignments in the postage paid envelope.

Querida familia de Eagle Avalon,
Avalon ISD se une a los otros distritos escolares en el condado de Ellis para tomar la decisión de extender el apoyo educativo en el hogar hasta el 17 de abril. AISD continuará brindando servicio de comidas a los estudiantes e instrucción alternativa durante este período extendido. Nuestro personal continúa trabajando arduamente preparando tareas y actividades para que nuestros estudiantes mantengan sus mentes ocupadas durante este tiempo de desconocimiento.
Esta no es una decisión fácil porque entendemos que continúa imponiendo cargas a muchas de nuestras familias. Sin embargo, creemos que es imprescindible que colaboremos entre nosotros para garantizar la salud y la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y ciudadanos.
Tendremos dos horarios de recogida / entrega de paquetes educativos el lunes 30 de marzo:
- 11:00 am -12: 30 pm
- 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
