3rd Grade - Math (Period 3B-Joh) Assignments

Math Plans for the upcoming weeks:
March 23-March 27
  • There will be paper worksheets for you to complete at home and mail back once complete.
March 30-April 3
  • For those of you that opted for online instruction I will post assignments both here and on class dojo. 
    • Be sure and check out class dojo for helpful videos I will continue to post.
  • For those of you that requested paper instruction those will be mailed to you sometime this coming week for the following weeks work. 
    • Again, be sure and check out class dojo for helpful videos I will continue to post.
 
In the meantime if your child has access to a phone, laptop, or device please have them download the app: Xtra Math (if using a laptop or computer you just need to head to xtramath.org)
 
-Have them click the sign in button (upper right hand corner)
-Click students
-type my email : [email protected]
-their first name
-their pin is their 4 digit lunch number
-check remember me (this allows them to not have to enter my email or their name each time and they just click their name and enter their pin number)
- Students are very familiar as we do this every day in class. Have them follow prompts and do their quiz/Race the teacher until it says they are done. (this usually takes any where from 10-15 minutes). I get reports of their progress. This is a GREAT tool to help students with math fact fluency. 
-It only allows them to do this one time per day. So if possible have them login once a day and complete their Xtra Math for that day.
-If you would like to be "linked" to your child's account please let me know as I can send you an invite email and you will be able to see reports on your child's progress. Just send me an email or message on Dojo if you are interested.
 
We use this daily during our guided math instruction as mentioned above so students are very familiar with the website, but should you have any questions please email me or message me on dojo!

Math Work (April 27-May 3)

This week we will continue to work on Texas Tornado Spiral Review. We will also be moving onto Division Word Problem task cards.
This week's video series is on Number pairs and patterns. Be sure and comment your name after each video.
There is also a Brain Pop Assignment on Math Patterns assigned to everyone's dashboard.

3. Texas Tornado Spiral Review Quiz Set 23 (complete the quiz after the daily problems above)
4. Mrs. Johnson’s Video Series: 
3.5E Number pairs/patterns (2 parts - 30 min total)
5. Brain Pop:   Math Patterns Watch video 2X’s (and then do easy and hard quiz)
XtraMath --- try and at least do 2 days a week if you can do 5 that is even better!!!

This week in math we will work on solving Multiplication work problems. We will also continue TTSR to spiral review 3rd grade concepts.
 
This week's new learning content: Elapsed Time.
I have created an 8 part video series (most videos are under 5 min) of Elapsed Time.
This can be a rather confusing topic for 3rd grade, so please watch any video mutliple times if needed; or as always contact me to set up a private Zoom Tutoring session on Thursdays.

Here are the worksheets for this week's math assignments.

Also the 3rd grade weekly check list is a GREAT help to check off assignments as you go. (attached here and also in Dojo and also available on Google Classroom)
 
1. We will be doing TTSR Set 21 this week. (weekly work and quiz)
2. Subtraction task cards (word problems)
 
This week I will be introducing some new content for Math.
We will be both reviewing and learning some new information about 2D and 3D shapes. 

We have only briefly learned about shapes during Texas Tornado Morning work. 

1. Watch both of the Loom recorded videos (all you have to do is click on the link and it will take you straight to the video to watch-you can do this on any device or phone-you don't have to sign in or make an account.) Watch Part 1 (13 min) and Part 2(14 min).
 
2. Go to brain pop and watch the solid shapes video 2X's and then take the easy and hard quiz.

We made it to another Monday!!! Missing you guys!!! This week in Math we will work on solving addition word problems. Complete the 2 quizzes in Google Classroom (online I broke it up into two different quizzes Questions 1-12 is Part 1 and Questions 13-24 is Part 2). Hard copies- this is just one assignment (addition problem task cards 24 problems). Also we will be doing Texas Tornado again! Just like we do in class...You will have the weekly work to work on (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) I will post answer keys/videos with the answers on daily work so you can check your work. Make sure you check your answers so you can study that for Texas Tornado (TTSR) quiz this week.
