It's important for high school students to have background knowledge in the rich heritage received from the English speaking people. Reading literature written and spoken by British authors from the first century until now, is vital in understanding our complex language in America. This class focuses on the history of the English language and how historical events influenced the writers and shaped Western thought. Students will explore the time periods and read selections to help them understand the roots of many English speakers.
