AISD Family,

Based on updated information and with consultation with surrounding districts, conditions may become more dangerous overnight. The threat of poor road conditions overnight and into the morning on the roads in surrounding areas possibly endangers those who work for the district and our students. We also have many employees that commute to Avalon that would have to drive through areas that have much worse road conditions.

In order to ensure we do not put our students, staff and families in an unsafe situation, Avalon ISD and offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.

To all Avalon ISD families:

Due to the winter weather forecasted for our area and based on the information we have received from the National Weather Service. there is a likelihood that road conditions will gradually decline tomorrow. For this reason, we do not want to put our staff, students, and their parents in unsafe situations, and will be CLOSED FOR THE ENTIRE DAY, Thursday, January 9th. All AISD campuses and offices will be closed. All after-school events and activities are cancelled as well.
AISD will continue to monitor the weather conditions during the day tomorrow regarding school for Friday, January 10th to decide the safest plan for Friday. ��
We hope that by announcing early that this helps our families make plans.

We're getting ready for a new semester as our students head back to school on Wednesday, January 8! Teachers will have In-Service activities on Tuesday, January 7. Students who missed SEMESTER EXAMS the last week of school in December MUST report for their exams on Tuesday morning, January 7, at 9:00 a.m. at the high school office.

STAAR End-of-Course retests are scheduled for Wednesday, December 11 (Eng I & II) and Thursday, December 12 (Alg 1).

Avalon ISD will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, for the Thanksgiving holidays, November 25-29! Enjoy your holiday break!
