Family Science Night ~ April 11

Our first annual Family Science Night is scheduled for April 11! All of the elementary K-5 science fair presentations will be set up to view in the MPC and the winners will be announced that night at 7:30.

Perot Museum (our largest vendor) will be hosting their Earth and Space program with multiple interactive stations and Bricks for Kidz will be there with 2 hands-on STEM building LEGO stations! Our local Ellis County 4H Club will be set up with some cool rocket demonstrations for kids to try and our very own Eagle Science Club, with Mrs. Campbell’s high school students, will be offering several science activities.

Last but not least, Pokey O’s is back with their cookies and ice cream truck! We are so excited about this new event and we hope to see everyone there! (Click for the flyer and event map)

Lone Finalist Named

The Avalon ISD Board of Trustees has named Mr. Khristopher Marshall as the Lone Finalist for the position of Superintendent. He has been with Avalon ISD for 20 years, first as a classroom teacher and coach, then moving into the position of District Assistant Principal and, for the last 10 years, as the high school principal. He will be the eighth Superintendent in the history of Avalon ISD.

Mr. Marshall graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and his Master’s degree from Tarleton State University.

Dr. David Del Bosque announced his retirement in August after serving as Superintendent for the last 17 years, and 25 years at Avalon ISD.

New Start Time for 2018-2019!

In order to incorporate some exciting changes for the 2018-2019 school year, the daily schedule for 1st period/beginning of the day will include the usual 7:50 bell. All students are then expected to be in class by 7:55 a.m.!

Registration for 2018-2019 Set for Thursday, August 2!

Registration for ALL students for the 2018-2019 school year will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the J.P. Griffith gymnasium! Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. and administrators and staff will be on hand to help with registration until 6:00 p.m. Students will also have their pictures taken for ID cards at this time. Please follow the link under "Parents" to the set of registration forms that can be downloaded, filled in at home and brought to registration. The lunch application is not available until August 1 and needs to be filled out by all parents at registration. Can't wait to see everyone as we prepare for a new school year!

Back to School Festival ~ Thursday, August 2!

The 3rd annual Avalon School Back-to-School Festival will be held during Registration Day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.! (Registration is from 9 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) FREE professional hair cuts will be available as well as a free hot dog lunch from 12-1! Our other participants include: Ellis County Sheriff's Office, Avalon School FFA, Avalon PTO, Drug Prevention Resources, Hope Clinic of Ennis, Community Council Health Ins, Region X Migrant Services, North Texas Poison Control, North Texas Behavioral Health Authority and Citizens National Bank of Waxahachie (backpacks!), Running Free Ranch and Blessings by Priscilla.
