The final week of school is quickly approaching and the calendar for Avalon ISD will be active!

Monday, May 20 - regular school day
Tuesday, May 21 - dismissal at 1:00; End of Year Awards/Celebration for FFA, 6:00
Wednesday, May 22 - dismissal at 1:00; Senior breakfast, 8:00; Grad Walk, 9:30; Mandatory Graduation Practice, 10-12, MPC; Baccalaureate Service, 7:00, Avalon FBC
Thursday, May 23 - dismissal at 12:00 noon; JH Awards, 8:00, JPG; Kindergarten Graduation, 9:00, MPC; HS Awards, 9:30, JPG; Report Cards issued for grades PK-8

Valedictorian and Salutatorian Named for Class of 2019

Congratulations to the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the Class of 2019! Hailey Duckett has earned the highest honor award of Valedictorian and Maria Gatlin has earned the second highest honor of Salutatorian. Graduation for the Class of 2019 will be Friday evening, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Avalon Multipurpose Center.

Dr. Del Bosque's Retirement Dinner this Saturday, May 18!

Join us as we celebrate the 38 year educational career and his 25 years at Avalon ISD, 12 years as our Superintendent, of Dr. David Del Bosque. Dr. Del Bosque will retire after the 2018-2019 school year in June. All proceeds from ticket sales for the dinner will go toward the Avalon Orange and White College Scholarship Fund and the Riley-Dirk Human Resources Fund. Tickets are on sale through this week for the brisket dinner. Any tickets leftover from the pre-sale will be available in limited amount at the door. Adult plate - $7.50, child plate - $5.00 (Dinner not required to attend program or reception). Event will be held in the J.P. Griffith gymnasium.

Khristopher Marshall Named Avalon's 8th Superintendent

The Avalon ISD Board of Trustees has named Mr. Khristopher Marshall as the 8th Superintendent of Avalon ISD. He has been with Avalon ISD for 20 years, first as a classroom teacher and coach, then moving into the position of District Assistant Principal and, for the last 10 years, as the high school principal. He will be the eighth Superintendent in the history of Avalon ISD.

Mr. Marshall graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and his Master’s degree from Tarleton State University.

Dr. David Del Bosque announced his retirement in August of 2018 after serving as Superintendent for the last 17 years, and 25 years at Avalon ISD.

New Start Time for 2018-2019!

In order to incorporate some exciting changes for the 2018-2019 school year, the daily schedule for 1st period/beginning of the day will include the usual 7:50 bell. All students are then expected to be in class by 7:55 a.m.!
