Due:

End of the Year

Hello EAGLES,

Well, it seems that despite all of the hurdles, we are just about to finish the 2019-2020 school year. It didn't go as we planned but life never does.
Tomorrow, Monday, May 18, is the due date for all assignments.
For those of you that chose the hard-copy route, there are a couple of Drop-Off times scheduled at 11:00am-12:30pm and 5:00pm-6:30pm.

I just got through looking at Study Island and there are A LOT of you that seem to have slacked off a bit in your efforts.
PLEASE get finished.
The assignments I made were all review work and pretty short and quick to do.
PLEASE GET FINISHED!!!

GOOD NEWS!!!!! ALL OF MY SENIORS HAVE COMPLETED ALL OF THEIR WORK!!!
I hope you have done likewise in your other classes.

Keep in contact with your friends and classmates.
Encourage them to finish the year strong.
Support each other and hold each other accountable.
We ARE all in this together and need each other's support.

Due:

6th Six-Week Assignments

GOOD NEWS!! There are no new assignment for the week of May 11!!!!  (You're welcome)

The assignments for the last couple of weeks (for the 6th 6-week grading period) are all based in Study Island.
These assignments have been posted in Study Island for a while.
Some of you have started them and some of you have not. They are as follows:
  • 2e - Simplify Exponent Expressions (10 problems)
    2h - Rewrite Expressions (10 problems)
    3a - Slope of a Line (15 problems)(1-5 for a grade)(6-10 for a 2nd grade)(11-15 for a 3rd grade)
    3c - Graph Linear Functions (15 problems)(1-5 for a grade)(6-10 for a 2nd grade)(11-15 for a 3rd grade)
These will give you eight (8) grades for the 6th 6-weeks.
Please complete these. They will not take much time (you're welcome) unless you put them off.
Remember, an advantage of Study Island assignments is that you can attempt them multiple times to potentially earn a better grade.

PLEASE finish the year STRONG!!  I've seen a bit of a last-minute surge (PANIC??) in activity the last few days.

CATCH UP!!!!!

This isn't a new assignment.  It's a REMINDER/PLEA.

I sent a few of you an individual email yesterday and today about the first week (Week of March 23) assignments that we sent as a packet through the mail. MOST of you did them and returned them. But there are a few of you that have not.
PLEASE complete these assignments and return them Monday, May 4, during the announced Drop-Off times that are posted on the AISD website and Remind emails.
Also, MANY of you seem to have slacked off a bit with the work from Weeks 2-5. Please remember that I posted ALTERNATIVE ONLINE ASSIGNMENTS that are available to everyone even if you chose to do HARD COPY assignments. These are short Study Island assignments that can be done pretty quickly. And the bonus is, if you don't do as well the first time, you can always go back and retry the problems for a higher score.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep up with your work in all of your classes. This will be a good time to pump up your six-week averages in all of your classes.

And BE HAPPY that there has been no VOCABULARY and MEMORY WORK!!!

CHECK STUDY ISLAND!!!

Assignment

Good morning EAGLES!
Not to start off with a downer, but many of you need to step up your efforts in your class work. We are still taking grades. This is not an extended Spring Break or an early Summer. School is still going on. Learning is still our goal. You are still accountable for your assignments whether they are hard copy or online. To confuse things a bit, some of you have switched from hard copy to online and others from online to hard copy. THAT'S OK! It's kinda hard to keep up with, but all of the assignments have been relatively short and can be done pretty quickly.
PLEASE keep up (or CATCH UP) with your work and all of the alerts and announcements you are receiving from Google Classroom, the Avalon website, emails, reminds, ZOOM, etc. It all seems like a lot but it really isn't. It's only a lot if you put it off.
Contact your friends and classmates. Work together, even if it's by phone, text, or email. HELP each other. TEACH each other. Hold each other accountable. ENCOURAGE one another. LISTEN to one another. BE THERE for everyone.

Assignment

PLEASE READ. I'm getting questions from some of you that were answered in the original assignments.

I've posted two new assignments in Study Island.
These two assignments are ALTERNATIVE assignments for this week.
These are for those of you that are having difficulty downloading the earlier assignments that I made by attaching Word Documents.
You can do EITHER, the ATTACHED assignments for this week or you can do these new Study Island assignments.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO BOTH the paper and the online.
I HOPE YOU READ THIS!

Due:

Assignment

There are two new assignments from Study Island. These are for the "online" students that are having a hard time with the attached "paper" assignments. There has been a variety of issues with them, and I wanted to give you an actual ONLINE opportunity.  I do NOT expect you to do the attached paper assignment AND this ONLINE work.  If you want to, however, because you are bored, please do so.  :)

The assignments from Study Island are 2a, and 2b.

2a - Add & Subtract Polynomials
2b - Multiply and Divide Polynomials

If you chose "hard-copy" and would like to do these too, please do so.

Here's a new "ASSIGNMENT"
I have created an email group so that I can keep up with everyone better.
This is part of my learning curve.
I think I have Study Island figured out.
I think I've figured out Group Email.
Next, as some of you have asked, I'm working on learning how to use Google Classroom.
HERE'S YOUR "ASSIGNMENT".
Check your school email for a message from me.  All I ask you to do is to REPLY so that I know you got it and that I've set it up correctly.  That's all I ask.
PLEASE!!
THANK YOU!!

Assignment

Here are the assignments for the next four (4) weeks.  Take your time.  Contact each other.  Help each other.  Send me an email.

We can still learn and make the most of this awkward time.

Everyone, 9-12, has the same work.  It's all based on the basic Algebra skill of factoring/reducing/simplifying/cancelling.

There are two assignments per week:

Week 2: Assignments 1 & 2
Week 3: Assignments 3 & 4
Week 4: Assignments 5 & 6
Week 5: Assignments 7 & 8

If you can't print these out, you can copy them on your own paper.

No pressure!  Just take the opportunity to relearn this material.

During the week, check back to my page.  I'm going to find some YouTube videos related to these topics to help you.

Here's one to get you started from MathAntics.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5ZGDNxJwxA&t=214s
This guy is pretty good.  And, if any of you find any YouTube videos that helped you, please share them with the rest of us.

Next weekend I will provide you the answers for Assignments 1 & 2.

ENJOY!!

Assignment

Welcome to a NEW DAY and a NEW WAY of LEARNING!!!

While we are all making sure that we and our families stay safe and healthy, life goes on.
We still need to LEARN.  A day that goes by without learning something is a day WASTED.
In these confusing and uncertain times, let's all help each other stay safe and learn.

For the remainder of the year, whether it's through "packets", "online", or hopefully IN PERSON, my goal is to prepare you for next year.
We will cover "BASIC" and "ADVANCED" topics.
The good news is that there's really nothing "new" to learn.
However, there ARE new things to DO with the things that we have already learned.

Packets with two assignments will be sent to you shortly.  It's all things we have already covered.  Kind of a refresher, a warm-up.
Soon after that, we are looking to go online.
I'm going to be learning this (the online stuff) as you are.
We will use Sapling, YouTube, and other types of online instruction.

STAY TUNED!!
