Dear Avalon ISD families and staff:
Avalon ISD has been actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation over spring break. Maintenance staff will continue to clean and disinfect district buildings and buses.
At this time, there are no cases of COVID-19 in Ellis County. We are joining other Ellis County school districts in awaiting guidance from the Texas Education Agency, health experts, and government officials. To date, there has been no decision regarding the closure of public schools in Texas, especially those who do not currently have a case of COVID-19.
This is a rapidly-evolving situation, but as of now, Avalon ISD plans to resume classes on Monday, March 16. As soon as any decisions are made that may alter a regularly-planned return for students and staff, we will notify all parties immediately. Any updates will be shared via email, social media, and our district website.
We will continue to disinfect our buildings and buses daily, and encourage staff and students to wash their hands regularly and take other disease-prevention measures. We want to thank you for your patience and support. For your part, please enjoy the rest of your break, stay home if you are sick, wash your hands regularly, and continue to follow CDC recommendations.
Thank you for your support of Avalon ISD and for your cooperation in keeping students and staff members healthy.”
Mr. Khristopher Marshall
